Singh, who earned her master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from UW-Madison, was recognized for her role as an aspirational example to others through her accomplishments. Her company, Credo AI, provides a platform for organizations to govern, measure, and monitor AI systems in line with global regulations.
Her path to founding Credo AI in 2020 began with a decade at Qualcomm, where she worked on wireless technologies central to smartphones, followed by a stint at Microsoft focusing on software and cloud computing. It was at Microsoft that she started grappling with questions about responsible AI, such as what it looks like and how to ensure systems serve humanity.
Singh's upbringing in India shaped her drive. Watching her mother reinvent her career from teaching to fashion design inspired her, while her father's four decades in the Indian military instilled a sense of service. A scholarship enabled her to leave India for the U.S., and she quickly felt at home at UW-Madison, where she assisted professors and became a teaching assistant.
Beyond Credo AI, Singh serves on the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee, is an AI expert at the OECD, and advises the UN AI Advisory Board. She was also named a TIME100 AI leader. Her outlook remains forward-looking: 'What will humanity look like when we get this right?' she asks, envisioning a 'beautiful, prosperous, and human-centered' future.
