The potential investment would mark a more than 50% increase from Perplexity's last funding round in September 2025, when it raised $200 million at a $20 billion valuation.
Perplexity's annualized revenue has climbed to over $750 million, up from $250 million at the start of the year, driven largely by Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based platform that uses autonomous AI agents to complete multi-step tasks from a single prompt.
CEO Aravind Srinivas said the company plans to go public in 2028 regardless of how the market receives upcoming IPOs from Anthropic and OpenAI. Chief Business Officer Dmitry Shevelenko added that keeping 2028 as the earliest IPO date has allowed Perplexity to build a healthy, high-growth business.
Nvidia has been investing in companies that rely on its AI infrastructure. Last month, Perplexity said it would use Nvidia's new Vera CPUs for AI-agent workloads after finding they outperformed traditional server processors for some core tasks.
Earlier this year, Perplexity signed a $750 million deal with Microsoft to use Azure cloud services and access AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI through Microsoft's Foundry platform. Nvidia has also recently invested $1 billion in a South Korean AI project with Naver.
