The Conservatives received just over £1 million from South Asian donors, including a £250,000 contribution from property developer Kamal Pankhania. Labour took in £644,000, with a notable donation from Harish Sodha.

The pattern marks a shift from previous cycles, when donations were more concentrated with a single party. Donors are now spreading funds to build access across the political spectrum.

A Labour spokesperson said the party welcomes support from all communities and remains focused on its policy agenda. Conservative officials declined to comment on individual donors.

The figures were compiled from the latest Electoral Commission returns, which list donations above £7,500. The trend is expected to continue as the next general election approaches.
