Duolingo Test Accepted by 6500 Universities Worldwide

The Duolingo English Test is now accepted by 6,500 universities worldwide, the company announced. The milestone reflects growing recognition of the test as a valid measure of English proficiency for international student admissions.

Duolingo has steadily increased its institutional partnerships since launching the test in 2016. The test offers a lower-cost, at-home alternative to traditional exams like TOEFL and IELTS, which require in-person testing centers.

The expansion includes universities across major English-speaking destinations such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Duolingo said the test's adaptive format and AI-powered proctoring ensure reliability and security.

The company continues to market the test to institutions and students, emphasizing its convenience and affordability. The test costs $59, compared to over $200 for some competitors, and can be taken on demand from any computer with a camera.
