Indian Survivors Return After Vietnam Boat Accident

The group landed at an undisclosed Indian airport on Wednesday, where officials from the Ministry of External Affairs received them and arranged transport to their respective hometowns. The survivors, who had been staying in Vietnam since the accident, completed necessary paperwork and medical checks before departure.

The tourist boat, carrying 31 Indian nationals, capsized near the coast of Nha Trang on July 11. Rescue teams recovered 15 bodies over the following days, while 16 passengers were pulled alive from the water. The cause of the capsizing remains under investigation by Vietnamese authorities.

Indian embassy officials in Hanoi coordinated the repatriation process, working with Vietnamese agencies to issue emergency travel documents and arrange flights. The embassy also provided counseling and financial assistance to the survivors and families of the deceased during their stay in Vietnam.

The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that it is in contact with the families of the deceased to facilitate the return of the bodies, which are expected to be flown to India in the coming days. The ministry has also assured full support for the survivors' recovery and any legal proceedings that may follow.
