IAGB Moves Its Annual India Day Celebration to Acton After Hosting It at Boston's Hatch Shell for Nearly Two Decades

The India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) announced it will move its annual India Day celebration to Acton this year, ending a nearly two-decade run at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston.

The decision to relocate the event, which typically draws thousands of attendees, was made after the organization faced logistical challenges at the Hatch Shell, including rising costs and limited space for expanded programming.

IAGB President Anil Saigal said the new venue at NARA Park in Acton offers more room for cultural performances, food vendors, and community activities. The move also aims to better serve the growing Indian American population in the suburbs west of Boston.

The India Day celebration, scheduled for August 17, will feature traditional music, dance, and a parade. IAGB expects the event to maintain its focus on showcasing Indian culture and heritage while accommodating a larger crowd.

The organization has hosted India Day at the Hatch Shell since 2006, making it one of the longest-running ethnic festivals at the iconic Boston venue. IAGB officials said they are grateful for their time at the Hatch Shell but look forward to new opportunities in Acton.
