Nita M. Ambani, founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, received the AAPI Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin at a ceremony in Tampa, Florida. The award recognizes her philanthropic contributions in healthcare, education, sports, culture and community development.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor presented Ambani with the Key to the City of Tampa, one of the city's highest civic honors. The distinction is reserved for individuals whose work has made a meaningful impact on society.
Ambani was recognized for her leadership at the Reliance Foundation, which has initiatives in healthcare, education, rural transformation, women's empowerment, disaster response, sports development and preservation of India's arts and cultural heritage. She also launched Her Circle, a digital platform for women, on International Women's Day in 2021.
Accepting the award, Ambani dedicated the recognition to the team behind the Reliance Foundation's humanitarian initiatives. She also praised the Indian American community for preserving India's cultural heritage while contributing to American society.
