Cursor Launches India Office Ahead of SpaceX Acquisition

The office, to be located in Bengaluru, will initially house around 50 employees focused on engineering, product, and support roles, according to a company spokesperson. Cursor's move comes as it prepares for an acquisition by SpaceX, which is expected to close later this year.

The company's Indian user base has grown rapidly since the launch of a localized 'Cursor Start' plan priced at ₹649 per month, which offers a lower-cost entry point for individual developers and small teams. The plan includes access to Cursor's AI-powered code completion and chat features.

Cursor's expansion in India is part of a broader push into emerging markets, where demand for AI-assisted development tools is surging. The company says it will also invest in local developer communities and partnerships with engineering colleges to foster early adoption.

The Bengaluru office is expected to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2026, with hiring to begin in early 2026. Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, has not disclosed the total investment for the India operations, but the spokesperson said it will be a 'significant' commitment.
