PM Modi Mourns Indian Tourists Killed in Vietnam

The accident occurred on Saturday when the vessel, carrying 32 Indian nationals and four crew members, capsized about 400 meters off the coast of the popular tourist destination. Local authorities launched a rescue operation, but at least 15 people were confirmed dead, with others injured or missing.

In a statement, Modi offered condolences to the families of the deceased and said the Indian embassy in Vietnam is providing all possible assistance to those affected. He also directed officials to coordinate closely with Vietnamese authorities on rescue and relief efforts.

The boat was reportedly returning from a day trip when it overturned in rough seas. The cause of the capsizing is under investigation, according to local officials.

India's Ministry of External Affairs said it is in touch with the Vietnamese government and is working to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies and support for the injured. The Indian community in Vietnam has also mobilized to help the victims and their families.
