Illinois Ticket Wins $1.04 Billion Powerball Jackpot

The winning ticket was purchased at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, near the Missouri border, for the standard $2 price. The numbers drawn Wednesday night were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with 9 as the Powerball number. The odds of matching all six and winning the jackpot are about 1 in 292.2 million.

The winner has not come forward as of Thursday, and Illinois Lottery officials have not identified the ticket holder. The prize can be claimed as an estimated $1.04 billion annuity paid over 29 years or a $450.5 million lump sum, both before taxes.

The jackpot had been building since May 2, when Powerball last had a grand-prize winner. Wednesday's drawing was the 44th consecutive without a jackpot winner, making it the largest U.S. lottery prize so far in 2026.

Five other tickets matched all five white balls but not the Powerball. Tickets in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina each won $1 million, while a Massachusetts ticket with the Power Play option won $2 million. More than 3 million tickets won prizes in the drawing, according to Powerball.

The jackpot now resets to an estimated $20 million for the next drawing. The record Powerball jackpot remains the $2.04 billion prize won in California in 2022.
