Indian and US Navies Launch 5-Day Joint EOD Drill in Kochi

The exercise, which runs through August 14, brings together explosive ordnance disposal teams from both navies to conduct specialized diving operations and tactical coordination drills. The focus is on neutralizing advanced maritime explosive threats, including improvised explosive devices and underwater mines.

Indian Navy divers and their US counterparts will engage in a series of scenarios designed to enhance interoperability, including simulated responses to submerged ordnance and coordinated disposal procedures. The training also covers the use of remotely operated vehicles and other specialized equipment for deep-sea recovery.

This is the latest in a series of bilateral exercises between the two navies, reflecting their growing maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The Kochi venue, home to India's Southern Naval Command, provides a suitable environment for such operations, with its extensive coastline and harbor facilities.
