US Gas Prices Hit $4 Per Gallon Amid Iran Conflict

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $4.00 on Tuesday, according to data from AAA, the highest level since November 2022. The increase follows a sharp rise in crude oil prices driven by intensified military operations between the United States and Iran.

Benchmark U.S. crude oil rose to approximately $84 per barrel, while international Brent crude climbed above $90 per barrel. Analysts attributed the spike to concerns over potential disruptions to oil supplies from the Middle East, a region that accounts for about a third of global crude production.

The $4 per gallon threshold marks a psychological milestone for American drivers and could influence consumer spending ahead of the summer driving season. Gas prices had been trending lower earlier this year, but the conflict reversed that trajectory.

The White House has not announced any immediate measures to address the price increase, such as releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Energy experts said further price hikes are possible if the conflict widens or affects major shipping routes in the Persian Gulf.
