The University of Nevada, Reno has named Indian American educationist Lakshmi N. Reddi as its next provost and executive vice president, effective July 1. Reddi currently serves as the dean of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University.
In his new role, Reddi will oversee the university's academic programs, faculty, and research initiatives. He succeeds Kevin Carman, who has served as interim provost since 2023.
Reddi has held leadership positions at several institutions, including serving as the vice president for research at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Florida.
University President Brian Sandoval praised Reddi's experience in advancing research and academic excellence. Reddi expressed enthusiasm for joining the university and contributing to its mission of student success and community engagement.
