The tool, announced on Thursday, is being integrated into Meta's family of apps, allowing users to generate images from text prompts, edit existing photos, and access creative templates directly within the apps.

Muse Image is built on Meta's latest AI model, which the company says offers improved realism and better understanding of complex prompts. The feature will be available in both English and Hindi initially, with more languages to follow.

Users can access Muse Image through the Meta AI assistant, which is embedded in the search bars of Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. The tool can also generate images in a variety of styles, including photorealistic, anime, and watercolor.

Meta says the rollout will be gradual, starting with users in the United States and India, and expanding to other regions in the coming months. The company is also introducing a watermarking system to label AI-generated images, aiming to increase transparency.

The launch positions Meta to compete with other AI image generators, such as OpenAI's DALL-E and Google's Imagen, as the company continues to integrate generative AI across its platforms.
