WhatsApp Group Chat Upgrades: Polls, @All Tag, and Spin-Off Rooms

The update, announced in a blog post, refines existing tools rather than introducing entirely new concepts. Polls now support an end time, after which voting closes automatically, useful for decisions with deadlines. Users can also hide voter names to encourage candid responses, and poll creators have a 15-minute window to edit questions after posting.

The @all mention, previously available to all members, is now restricted to admins in groups with more than 32 participants. Members can mute these alerts through notification settings, giving them control over how often they are pinged.

A new feature allows users to create a separate group chat from an existing one with a single tap, pulling in selected members without manual entry. This is designed for situations like event planning, where a smaller group needs a focused conversation without cluttering the main chat.

These additions build on earlier group chat improvements from this year, including message history for new members, member tags, and event reminders. The changes aim to reduce chaos in large, active groups while giving admins more oversight.
