Indian-American Leader Dr. Geeta Trivedi Dies at 86

Dr. Trivedi, who practiced internal medicine for over four decades in the Boston area, was known for her dedication to patient care and her efforts to bridge cultural gaps in healthcare. She served on the boards of several local health organizations and was a founding member of the Indian Medical Association of New England.

Beyond her medical work, Dr. Trivedi was a tireless advocate for Indian-American civic engagement. She helped organize cultural festivals, mentored young professionals, and was instrumental in establishing a community center in Lexington, Massachusetts, that hosts educational and social programs.

Her leadership extended to interfaith dialogues and charitable fundraising for education initiatives in both the United States and India. Colleagues remember her as a compassionate mentor who often opened her home to newcomers, helping them adjust to life in America.

Dr. Trivedi is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends and admirers. A memorial service is planned for later this month in Lexington, with a private cremation to follow.
