Amazon Florida Facility Closure To Impact 494 Workers

The layoffs are scheduled to take effect in phases starting May 16, with the final separation date set for June 13, according to the WARN notice filed with the Florida Department of Commerce.

Amazon said the affected employees include warehouse associates, delivery station staff, and management roles. The company has not disclosed whether workers will be offered transfers to other facilities.

The closure is part of Amazon's broader network optimization strategy, which has led to the consolidation of delivery operations across the country. The PBI3 site, located at 2300 S.W. Del Rio Blvd., primarily handled last-mile delivery for the region.

Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in an email that the company regularly reviews its network to ensure it meets customer needs and that affected employees will receive full pay for 60 days, including benefits, and will be offered separation packages.

The Port St. Lucie facility is one of several Amazon sites in Florida. The company did not specify what will happen to the building after the closure.
