Amazon Florida Facility Closure To Impact 494 Workers

The notice, filed with the state's Rapid Response Team, states that the facility will cease operations on May 16, 2025. Affected employees include warehouse associates, delivery station managers, and maintenance technicians.

Amazon said the decision is part of a broader effort to optimize its delivery network and improve efficiency. The company has offered affected workers the opportunity to transfer to other Amazon facilities in the region, with relocation assistance available for those willing to move.

The closure is scheduled to be permanent, and the company will provide severance packages and outplacement services to those who do not transfer. Amazon has not disclosed the specific reasons for the closure beyond the operational review.

Local officials expressed disappointment but noted that the area's logistics sector remains strong, with other employers actively hiring. The Port St. Lucie facility, which opened in 2021, primarily handled last-mile delivery operations for the surrounding communities.
