Miss North Carolina USA Dethroned Over Racist Posts

The Miss North Carolina USA organization stripped Brittany Boltinhouse of her crown on Tuesday, citing a review of her social media history that uncovered racist content. The decision came after an internal investigation into posts made before her reign.

Bolinthouse, who was crowned in March, had held the title for less than two months. The organization did not specify the exact nature of the posts but said they were inconsistent with the values of the pageant.

Myla Hadley, the first runner-up from the 2026 competition, has been elevated to the title. She will represent North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant later this year.

The Miss North Carolina USA organization issued a statement saying it holds its titleholders to the highest standards of conduct and character. Boltinhouse has not publicly commented on the decision.

This is not the first time a pageant winner has been dethroned over social media posts. In 2019, Miss USA contestant Cheslie Kryst faced scrutiny for old tweets, though she was not stripped of her title.
