Organizers have scheduled Tamil New Year 2026 celebrations in several major US cities, including New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. The events will take place in mid-April, aligning with the traditional Tamil calendar.

Local cultural associations are coordinating performances of classical dance, music, and drama. Food stalls will offer traditional Tamil dishes such as pongal and vadai.

Tamil New Year, known as Puthandu, marks the first day of the Tamil month of Chithirai. The celebrations aim to preserve cultural heritage among the diaspora and introduce younger generations to Tamil traditions.

Admission to most events is free, though some require prior registration due to limited capacity. Organizers encourage attendees to wear traditional attire.
