The Kanj Mega Onam 2026 celebrations have been scheduled for September 10–12 at the City Convention Center in downtown Chicago. The event, organized by the Malayalee Cultural Association, will feature traditional dance performances, a grand feast, and cultural workshops.
Organizers expect over 5,000 attendees from across the Midwest. The three-day program includes a flower carpet competition, a tug-of-war tournament, and a showcase of Kerala's martial art, Kalaripayattu.
Registration opens on March 1 through the association's website. Early bird tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $10 for children, with group discounts available for families of four or more.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the association's headquarters on Monday. Committee chairperson Priya Nair said the event aims to preserve and promote Malayalee traditions for younger generations.
