Sheetal Wrzesien, 44, was found dead inside her home in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta on Monday evening, according to police. Her 15-year-old son, who had been shot in the leg, ran to a neighbor's house for help after the attack.
Authorities arrested Wrzesien's husband, 49-year-old Michael Wrzesien, at the scene. He faces charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said.
The couple's son was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
Sheetal Wrzesien was a senior director of engineering at Google, where she had worked for more than a decade. She held a master's degree in computer science from Stanford University and had previously worked at Microsoft and Amazon.
The case has drawn attention to the issue of domestic violence within the Indian-American community, with advocates urging victims to seek help. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
