Man with glasses and mustache at COMA 5K Run 2026 community event

Nimil Peethamabaran, a member of the Columbus Malayalee Association (COMA), died on April 18 after a sudden cardiac arrest. He had spent a week in the intensive care unit at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He is survived by his wife Krishna and their two young children.

The community also marked the participation of 45 members in the OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K on April 25. Austin Perera served as the group's captain and motivator.

Deepa Menon, a COMA member who works in technology in Ohio, published her book 'Beyond Limits: From Fear to Summits.' The book draws on her experience completing mountain treks on four continents.

COMA has launched 'Comakkoru Oomakathu,' an anonymous feedback initiative, and is accepting responses through an online form. The group has scheduled a picnic for June 20 and an Onam celebration for August 29.
