Gandhi Peace Walk to Celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi

The Gandhi Peace Walk will take place on October 2 in Houston, Texas, marking the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event is organized by the Gandhi Jayanti Celebration Committee in collaboration with local community groups.

Participants will gather at 8 a.m. at the Mahatma Gandhi Statue in Hermann Park, followed by a 2-mile walk through the park. The route passes key landmarks, including the Miller Outdoor Theatre and the Houston Zoo.

The walk aims to promote peace and nonviolence, reflecting Gandhi's philosophy. Organizers expect over 500 attendees, including families, students, and community leaders. The event will conclude with a brief ceremony featuring speeches and a moment of silence.

Registration is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to wear white clothing, symbolizing peace. Water stations and first aid will be available along the route.
