Indian-American leaders at Azadi Ka Mahotsav launch event, NY Consulate.

The curtain-raiser, held on July 17, brought together representatives from dozens of Indian-American organizations to coordinate events leading up to the main celebration on August 15 at the Long Island Marriott.

Consul General Binaya Pradhan voiced strong support for the initiative, which is spearheaded by the National Association of Indian Organizations (NAIO) to create a collaborative national platform for the diaspora.

The Mahotsav marks two milestones: India's 80th Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the United States, with organizers planning a series of cultural and community programs.

NAIO leaders said the platform aims to amplify the community's collective voice and strengthen ties between Indian Americans and their heritage, while also celebrating their contributions to American society.

Further details on the August 15 program, including guest speakers and performances, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
