
The parade, a centerpiece of the event, featured more than 80 floats and marching units representing various Indian states and traditions. An 80-foot India and USA Flag Walk and the Tiranga Walk were among the highlights, along with live music and cultural performances.
Taapsee Pannu, known for her roles in socially themed films, served as Grand Marshal. Thousands lined the parade route to see the actress, who has been an advocate for women's empowerment.
Civic leaders and diplomats attended the flag-hoisting ceremony, including Consul General of India Dr. Srikar Reddy, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, U.S. Congressmember Sam Liccardo, and California Assemblymembers Ash Kalra and Patrick Ahrens. More than 40 elected officials from across Silicon Valley were present.
Youth engagement was a focus, with over 100 children performing classical and film dances. Competitions in art, chess, and essay writing were also held to connect younger generations with Indian heritage.
The event continued with a free Day & Night Mela featuring food vendors, a marketplace, and family activities. The evening program included Vijay Bharat, a cultural showcase with dances from different Indian states.
