The weekend-long event drew volunteers from across the diaspora community, who sorted donations and prepared care packages at the association's community center.

Organizers said the drive aimed to reflect the festival's spirit of giving, with donations going to three food banks in the Austin area.

Association president Meera Patel credited the success to social media outreach and partnerships with local Indian grocery stores, which served as drop-off points.

The food collected included staples like rice, lentils, and canned goods, while the monetary donations will help the food banks purchase fresh produce and dairy.

The association plans to expand the drive next year by adding a clothing donation component and partnering with more community groups.
