YC-Backed Stratum Launches AI Agents to Clear US Government Backlogs

Stratum Industries, founded by brothers Vihaan and Raj Jagiasi, has emerged from stealth with a platform that runs hundreds of AI agents in parallel to review applications for permits, patents, and benefits. The system keeps a human in the loop for oversight, according to the company.

Raj Jagiasi, who previously led go-to-market at Deel and ranked in the top five of more than 1,000 sales representatives globally, announced the launch on LinkedIn. He cited 853,000 Americans waiting on disability decisions, 777,000 unexamined patent applications, and 221,800 bridges awaiting repair as examples of the backlog the platform aims to clear.

The founders said the technology will eventually make government interactions as seamless as booking a ride or using a mobile payment service. Users would direct their own AI agents to file applications, while government agents review and respond, with approvals or rejections delivered the same day.

Vihaan Jagiasi, a former founding engineer at Cadastral, dropped out of the University of Waterloo to build Stratum. Raj Jagiasi left graduate school at the University of Bath for the venture, which is backed by Y Combinator.

The company describes its mission as making the U.S. government one of the most AI-run organizations in history, with backlog clearance as the first step.
