Onam Pookalam with snake boat and palm tree, celebrating community

The event is scheduled for later this year, with details about the venue and program lineup to be released in the coming weeks. MAALA, a community organization serving the Malayalee diaspora in the Lansing area, hosts an annual Onam festival featuring traditional Kerala cuisine, cultural performances, and games.

The celebration is open to members and non-members alike, and organizers are currently seeking volunteers and sponsors. Those interested can register through the MAALA website, where updates will also be posted.

MAALA, established to promote Malayalee culture and heritage in Michigan, also runs a youth club and organizes various community events throughout the year. The Onam celebration is one of its largest annual gatherings, drawing families from across the state.

Further announcements regarding ticket sales and event specifics are expected soon on the association's official channels, including its website and social media pages.
