COMA 5K Run 2026 Unites Community at Glacier Ridge

The COMA 5K Run 2026, held in May at Glacier Ridge Metro Park, drew 118 runners and walkers. The event was dedicated to Nimil, a friend of the community, and his family attended, saying they were moved by how he was remembered with love and dignity.

The same month, the COMA Tuskers Dragon Boat Team finished sixth, their best performance to date. Youth members also took part, signaling a strong future for the organization.

In a separate achievement, the Columbus Tuskers soccer team won the Capital Cup Championship in Maryland on their first try. They went undefeated in the tournament, and Subhash Nair took the Golden Boot with eight goals, including a hat-trick. Legendary Indian footballer I. M. Vijayan, a Padma Shri and Arjuna Award recipient, served as chief guest and handed the trophy to the team.

The win capped a four-year journey for the Tuskers, who had reached finals in tournaments across the U.S. and Canada but never won a major title. For Baltimore 2026, they chose not to recruit guest players, relying instead on their existing squad, which trained with the specific goal of lifting the trophy in front of Vijayan.

Looking ahead, COMA has planned youth programs, sports events, cultural activities, and an Onam celebration on August 29. The organization thanked its volunteers, participants, sponsors, and members for making May a meaningful month.
