ISW India Day 2026 to Honor India's 79th Independence Day

The India Society of Worcester (ISW) will host ISW India Day 2026, a free cultural festival celebrating India's 79th Independence Day and the organization's 63rd year of community service. The event is scheduled to take place at Worcester Common, with festivities running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 16.

Organizers expect more than 10,000 attendees to enjoy a day of live music, dance performances, and authentic Indian cuisine. The program will feature a flag-hoisting ceremony, a parade of states showcasing regional traditions, and a fashion show highlighting traditional attire.

ISW has been a cornerstone of the Indian community in central Massachusetts since 1963, offering cultural programs, language classes, and social services. The annual India Day celebration has grown into one of New England's largest Indian cultural gatherings, drawing families from across the region.

Vendors and community groups will set up stalls offering crafts, information on Indian heritage, and food from various regions of India. The event is designed to be family-friendly, with dedicated activities for children, including face painting and traditional games.

ISW volunteers are coordinating with city officials to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. The festival is open to all, reflecting the society's mission to promote cross-cultural understanding and unity.
