Indian-American communities across the United States observed International Yoga Day 2026 on June 21 with a series of events and yoga sessions. The day, recognized by the United Nations, promotes physical and mental well-being through the practice of yoga.

In cities such as New York, San Francisco, and Houston, local Indian-American organizations organized outdoor yoga classes in parks and community centers. Participants of all ages and backgrounds joined the sessions, which were led by certified yoga instructors.

The events also included discussions on the history and philosophy of yoga, as well as demonstrations of various yoga postures and breathing techniques. Cultural performances and vegetarian food stalls added to the festive atmosphere.

Organizers emphasized the importance of yoga in fostering community bonds and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Many participants expressed enthusiasm for the practice and its benefits for stress relief and overall wellness.

International Yoga Day was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 and has been celebrated annually since 2015. The day aims to raise awareness about the holistic benefits of yoga.
