UGC Approves Victoria University Australia Campus in Gurugram

Victoria University, headquartered in Melbourne, is one of Australia's largest universities by enrollment. The Gurugram campus will be its first offshore campus in India, part of a broader push by Australian institutions to expand into the Indian higher education market.

The approval follows India's 2020 National Education Policy, which encourages foreign universities to set up campuses in the country. VU joins a growing list of international institutions, including the University of Southampton and Deakin University, that have received UGC clearance in recent years.

The Gurugram campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs across disciplines such as business, information technology, and engineering. VU has not yet announced specific courses or tuition fees, but said it will align its Indian curriculum with its Australian standards.

The move is expected to provide Indian students with access to an Australian degree without leaving the country, at a lower cost than studying abroad. It also strengthens educational ties between India and Australia, which have deepened under the two countries' recent trade and education agreements.
