Nithyanand Reddy Gannu, a native of Nirmal district in Telangana, was pronounced dead after the crash near Ann Arbor, Michigan. The collision occurred on July 18, 2026, when the vehicle he was riding was struck by a car.

Medical examiners reported a cerebral fat embolism as a contributing factor in his death. Such an embolism occurs when fat particles enter the bloodstream and block vessels in the brain, often following severe trauma like a fracture.

Gannu had been living in the United States, though details of his work or length of stay were not immediately available. Family members in India have been informed, and arrangements for repatriating his remains are expected to follow.

Local authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No further information about the driver of the car or any potential charges has been released.
