Indian American Rudy Sengupta Named Emerson CTO and AI Chief

Sengupta, who joined Emerson through its acquisition of National Instruments, previously led the company's test and analytics software business. In his new role, he will oversee technology strategy and the integration of artificial intelligence across Emerson's product lines.

The appointment takes effect August 15, 2026. Peter Zornio, the outgoing chief technology officer, will remain with the company until his retirement at the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.

Emerson, a global technology and software company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has been expanding its software and AI capabilities in recent years. Sengupta's background in test and analytics is expected to support that push.

In a statement, Emerson said Sengupta's leadership will be instrumental in advancing its automation and digital transformation efforts. The company did not provide further details on specific AI initiatives.
