Indian American teen Aryash Shyam, host of WDIY's Teen Scientist.

Aryash Shyam, a high school student from Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, hosts the 30-minute program, which airs on the NPR member station. Each episode features conversations with leading researchers, including NASA scientists and university professors.

Shyam, who is of Indian American descent, said he started the show to make science more accessible to young listeners. He prepares for each interview by reading the guest's research and crafting questions that break down complex topics into understandable terms.

The program has covered a range of subjects, from space exploration to breakthroughs in medicine. Shyam said his favorite part is learning directly from experts and sharing that knowledge with his peers.

Looking ahead, Shyam hopes to expand the show's reach and inspire more students to pursue careers in science. He also plans to continue hosting while balancing his schoolwork and other activities.
